1.The engine room
1) Position of the engine room on board
The engine room is th heart of the board, it can provide the power for the operation of the ship, so the machinery in the engine room must be taken care of .
2) Type of marine machinery in the engine room.
There are many machines in the engine room, Including main engine , donkey engine, boiler, fresh water generator, oil water separator, oily water separator and so on.
3) Feature of marine machinery in the engine room
In these machines, main engine is the power source of the ship, others provide the service fro the main engine. Some of them are anti-pollution machines.
2. The engine department
1) Introduction for the importance of the engine department on board
The engine department takes charge of the engine room. They can make the machinery especially main engine working smoothly, and make ship's operation safe and anti-pollution.
2) Introduction for personnel of the engine department.
The chief engineer commands the engine department. The second engineer, the third engineer and the fourth engineer all work under his order. There are also some motormen in the department. The captain is responsible for the whole ship.
3) Description of work in the engine department.
One of the major responsibilities of the engine department is to keep the machineery running safely by proper operation and maintenance. Crew members of the engine department should overhaul, operate and maintain the equipment strictly by the rules. We always keep the machines in our engine room in good order.
3. Self-introduction
1) Your education background.
I graduated from Dalian maritime university in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in marine engineering. I studied there for four yours.
2) Your working experiences.
I am a seaman employed by Cosco Dalian. I have been working on board as an engineer fro nearly 3 years. Now I hold the third engineer cerfificate on board. As you know, now I am receiving a special training for the certification as a second engineer.
3) Your family.
My family is a nuclear family. My young wife is a teacher in a middle school. She is a pretty woman with fair skin and bright eyes. I love her. My son is 2 years old. I love my son and my wife. I will support and contribute to my family forever.
4. Your daily work on board.
1) Your position on board
I am a second engineer on board. I am in charge of the main engine and its auxiliary systems, the steering gear and lube oils. I am under the leader ship of my chief engineer and the ship master. I shall be responsible for the inspecion, operation and testing as required, of all machinery and equipment under my responisbility.
2) Your duties during watch-keeping
I keep watch while sailing at sea or in port, I stand watch from 0400-0800 and from 1600-2000 hours. I check and record all pressures and temperatures, and enter the same in the engine room log.
3) Your experiences.
I must keep teh maintenance of the main engine and help the chief engineer to arrange other personnel in the engine department. Sometimes, I cooperated with other engineers to located troubles and take remedy actions.
5. Watch-keeping in the Engine Room
1) The engineer on duty works for 4 hours each watch.
The second engineer keeps watch from 0400-0800 and from 1600-2000 , the third engineer keeps watch from 0000-0400 and from 1200-1600 , The fourth engineer keeps watch from 0800-1200 and 2000-2400.
2) He has to keep everything in good order
He must keep adequate supervision of machinery affecting the safe operation of the ship at all times.
3) He is going to hand over the shift.
After the watch, he should hand over the shift , and he must be sure that the relief is capable of carrying our the watchkeeping duties effectively.

I graduate from Dalian Maritime University in 2004. I have the third engineer certificate.

I have the bachelor degree of engineering in the field o marine engineering. I worked on board for three years.
