Factors affecting the OWS performance2

Generally, if the main component of the separtated oil is H.O., the temperature may be increased to 20~300C, otherwise, namely L.O. or D.O., no heating is needed.

The higher rate of flow, the worse separation effect.

The more oil content, the lower effect of separation.

If the flow in the pipe is laminar flow, the long pipe and low flow rate increase the separation effect, but the fittings decrease the separation effect. If the pump flow rate is larger than of the OWS, flow adjustmen is needed. Throttle and return adustment will all increase the oily water emulsion. To keep the separtion effect, the pump flow should match with the OWS.

If the sea water ratio in the bilge water is large , the density difference of oil and waer will increase, the separation is easy to carry out. When the oil particle combines with the ion in the sea water , the separtaion effect  will be enhanced, But if the dea water mixed with sour, antirust and so on, th separtation effect will be decreased.
